Dr. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist Training Program — Basic Course


YuanLiu School is running its 4th group for Dr. Vodder Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist Training Program - Basic Course under collaboration with Dr. Vodder School International in March, 2013, in Taipei Taiwan. 

Overview of Basic Course 
This is the first segment of four classes. 
This is a prerequuisite for Therapy I and Advanced Body courses. 
This is an intensive course involving extensive hands-on work.  The basic strokes and their application to each body part are taught.  The theory covers anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system, connective tissue, effects of MLD and contraindications.  Lymphedemas are described with an emphasis on how Manual Lymph Drainage can affect them.

Main Focus 
To assist students developing practical manual lymphatic drainage techniques and being able to apply what they have learned in the course on their clients’ simple lymphatic conditions. 
Upon finishing the 40-hour basic course, students will obtain a certificate for the Dr. Vodder MLD basic course issued by Dr. Vodder School International.  This basic course certificate represents that students have completed the basic course and has professional, basic knowledge for Dr. Vodder MLD therapist.

Instructor:Robert Harris   HND, MRT, CLT-LANA
Robert Harris is one of the first therapists to practice Combined Decongestive Therapy in North America (since 1984) having received training in Canada and Austria from the Dr. Vodder School. 

His certification teacher-training in this field led to the opening of the first Dr. Vodder 
School in North America in 1994, and he is the director and senior instructor in the Dr. Vodder School-International training program.  He has taught students in many countries and introduced Dr. Vodder’s MLD and CDT to New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Korea. 

Robert has presented at conferences including the International Society of Lymphology, the National Lymphedema Network, Canadian Association of Wound Care, Lymphedema Association of Ontario and Australasian Society of Lympholgy. He has published research into the effects of MLD with Professor Neil Piller at Flinder’s University, Adelaide, Australia.  

Robert is a member of the International Society of Lymphology and has served on the 
Board of North American Vodder Association of Lymphatic Therapy. He is currently 
serving on the Boards of Lymphology Association of North America, the Canadian and American Lymphedema Framework Projects, the British Columbia and Ontario 
Lymphedema Associations.  

Robert’s background is in immunological research at the Max Plank Institute in Germany and he holds an Higher National Diploma in Applied Biology from the U.K. He currently lives in Victoria, BC with his two children. 

Class time: 40 hrs(Practical 32hrs, Theory 8hrs)

Daily hours: 8:00am~5:00pm(with 1hr lunch break)

Eligibility for registration:Certified healthcare professionals, physiotherapists, aromatherapists, estheticians who have complete Dr. Vodder MLD Basic Course

Tuition Fee:  NT$49,000/person(Payment deadline Feb. 20, 2013)
